Overview

The Powerstar range of trucks has been designed, engineered and built in Australia using up to 65% of locally-sourced components. It is a purpose-built truck designed for the unique operating conditions of Australia.
It is available with the choice of either a European or American driveline and combines the strength, durability and proven qualities of an American truck with comfort, sophistication and drivability of a European truck, providing the driver with the best of both worlds.
The Powerstar has been designed to be used in a large range of applications including as:
- Prime movers towing single trailers and B–Double trailer sets
- Tipper and dog
- Roadtrains up to 140 tonnes (Gross Combination Mass)
- Long and medium distance distribution
- Refrigerated transport
Powerstar Range
The Powerstar range is tough and designed with Australia's unque and demanding conditions in mind. From the 6400 which offers a very competitive tare weight of under 7.5 tonnes to maximise your payload, to the 7800 Roadtrain, which can haul up to 140 tonnes, all Powerstars are Australian-built for the harshest terrain and applications.

Range-6400

With a tare weight of less than 7.5 tonnes, the new Powerstar 6400 offers maximum payload capacity without compromising strength or durability. With light weight options including centrifuge drums, alloy hubs and wheels, you can save time and money by packing more into each load - a greater payload means greater efficiency. The 6400 combines the on-road stability of a conventional truck coupled with the additional cabin space of a European-style cab.
The 6400 provides a choice of:
- Engine power ratings of either 450, 500 or optional 560hp
- Torque of up to 1696lb/ft
- Day or Sleeper Cab
- Four wheelbase options
- Roadranger 18 speed manual or ZF EuroTronic 12 speed or 16 speed automated transmissions.

Range-7200

The Powerstar 7200 is the versatile truck that can handle any job, big or small. Fitted with the iconic Cummins ISX 15 litre, ADR 80/03 engine and a choice of the industry standard Roadranger 18-speed manual transmission, or the ZF Eurotronic II 16-speed automated transmission, there's a 7200 variqant to suit the application. And with pulling power of 120 tonnes GCM, the 7200 is a proven platform capable of the largest jobs.
The 7200 offers the choice of:

- Torque rating of 1850lb/ft
- Day Cab or Sleeper Cab
- Seven rear axle ratio options

Range-7800

The Powerstar 7800 is the latest addition to the Powerstar range and is the flagship of the Iveco fleet. Offering an all American driveline, the 7800 is a heavy duty workhorse which can haul the biggest loads right up to 140 tonnes. The 7800 was developed in Australia for local conditions and features the high quality and proven American driveline that is the prefered specification for many tough and demanding remote area applications.
The 7800 offers the choice of:
- Cummins ISX or Signature 15 litre engines
- Power ratings of up to 600hp and 2050lb/ft of torque
- A 56 inch sleeper cab
- Industry-leading wheel cut angle
- Rear heavy duty Iveco cantilever suspension.

Engine
The Powerstar range provides a broad change of American and European powerplants to best suit the application at hand.
- Cummins ISX/Signature 15 litre engines: are all American proven performers. With horsepower ratings of 485, 525, 550 or 600hp and up to 2050lb/Ft of torque, the Cummins range of engines are up to any task. The engines utilise Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) in meeting the emission compliance levels and it is a simple self-contained sub-system on the engine. EGR is simple in its design and operation and does not require any form of exhaust after-treatment. The ISX engine is fitted with a Variable Geometry Turbocharger which improves throttle response and control.
- Iveco Cursor 13 engines: offers power ratings of 450, 500 or 560hp and up to 1696lb/Ft of torque. Utilising Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology with exhaust gas after-treatment, the Iveco Cursor 13 engine adheres to the current Euro 5 – ADR 80/03 emission standards. While this technology limits the environmental impact of the engine emissions, SCR also provides a significant decrease in fuel consumption. Using four valves per cylinder and a Variable Geometry Turbocharger (VGT), the Cursor 13 engine delivers high torque values over a wide range of engine speeds. This in turn reduces the number of gear changes resulting in greater fuel efficiency and less engine wear.
- In 2015 Iveco updated its top-rated 560 horsepower Cursor engine with the introduction of the 13-litre Cursor Series II. The latest engine delivers operators the renowned fuel efficiency benefits of the previous engine, coupled with even greater reliability and engine life. A flat torque curve delivers maximum torque from a very low 1,000rpm all the way through to 1,700rpm, providing improved driveability and stress-free power delivery
Driveline
The Powerstar range offers a choice of transmissions with both the ZF EuroTronic II or Eaton Roadranger available:
- ZF EuroTronic II automated transmission (GCM up to 90 tonnes): is a 12 or 16-speed gearbox which has an electronically controlled clutch engagement. While driving in automated mode the EuroTronic transmission automatically selects the most ideal gearshift according to load, road speed, road incline, etc. However, should the road and traffic conditions require it, the driver can change gears themselves, a simple touch of the selector lever engages manual mode.
The EuroTronic transmission was developed with ZF to deliver:
- Optimum performance
- Advanced drivability
- Superior fuel economy
The result is an intelligent and adaptive transmission which helps to reduce stress levels and fatigue for drivers. The ZF EuroTronic transmission provides the versatility of being operated in automated mode with the ability to shift into manual mode when required.
- Eaton Roadranger manual transmission (GCM up to 140 tonnes): when the Roadranger Super 18 is selected with the Cummins ISX engine and Hendrickson Primaax air suspension it offers an all American driveline. This is the prefered combination for many operators engaged in extremely demanding, remote area applications.

CAB
The Powerstar cab is known for its increased visibility along with high levels of comfort and superior ergonomics, lessening the impact on the driver's body especially over poor road surfaces. Compared to traditional North American trucks, the Powerstar's ride and comfort is a revelation. Key features of the range include:
- A sloping bonnet, five mirrors and a single piece wide panel windscreen, providing increased visibility
- An ISRI air suspended driver's seat
- Fully adjustable steering column
- Wide opening 90 degree doors
- Anti skid steps giving the driver easy and safe access
- Automatic step lights are illuminated once the door is opened and stay lit for 30 seconds
- Grab handles on both sides of the door cavity combined with footsteps give the driver 3 points of contact with the chassis
The Powerstar is available in a choice of:
- Day Cab: specially designed for short haul or metropolitan duties offering increased space and comfort compared to other manufacturers
- Sleeper Cab: comes with the choice of a low or high roof and one or two bunks. The flat walk through floor gives the driver easy access from the cab to the sleeper.
